Maple Old Fashioned

Is it Friday yet? Nope, not even close. I love traveling – seeing new places, old faces, and eating regional cuisine – but I hate the overwhelming feeling of falling behind while I’m away. The laundry piles up, the fridge becomes bare and, despite being away for business, my to do list seems to have quadrupled in size. If you’re looking for a bit of liquid motivation to get you through the week like me, this Maple Old Fashioned will likely do the trick.

I’ve always been a whiskey kind of girl; you can sing a song about me if you’d like. I am a bit ragged-on-the-edges, sometimes prompting Z to ask if I was raised in a barn. Nope, just Texas, and proud of it. I’m not biased when it comes to my whiskey – bourbon or rye, Tennessee or Canadian, and everything in between – I’m not picky. I am, however, a tad finicky on how I like it served. I like to savor my whiskey, let it shine, and avoid diluting it with unnecessary flavors.

Maple Old Fashioned

The Old Fashioned happens to be my favorite cocktail and I’m always happy to try a few subtle twists on the original recipe. This Maple Old Fashioned uses brown sugar to muddle the cherries and orange to help bring out the flavor of the Maple Crown Royal. It is smooth, strong and just enough sweet to wind down after a long day’s work. This cocktail packs a punch, so please sip responsibly.
