bonfires and goodbyes
We keep moving forward, opening new doors, and doing new things, because we’re curious and curiosity keeps leading us down new paths.
– Walt Disney
Last weekend, members of the San Diego food blogging community got together over a good old fashioned bonfire to bid adieu to our Fearless Leader, Marie. Marie led us to three years in a row of impressive bake sale success and organized too many fabulous food-centered events to count. She will be dearly missed, but is headed off to pursue her next great adventure.
San Diego foodies take their bonfires seriously. Thanks to Darlene for organizing a campfire grilled cheese contest. Here, Brandon shows off his jalepeno popper inspired creation before it hit the fire.
I’d also like to thank Brandon for introducing us to the latest trend of Campfire Cones. Sugar cones filled with chocolates, marshmallows, nuts and more are wrapped in foil and then thrown into the fire. Topped with a dollop of homemade whipped cream and you’re in campfire heaven.
Coincidentally, my blogging absence as of late is due mostly in part to the fact that we too have packed up our San Diego home and will hit the road tomorrow morning to begin our next chapter back in the San Francisco Bay Area. I am filled with a whirlwind of emotions, although if we’re being honest, mostly exhaustion at this point. I have met so many wonderful people here in San Diego, but am oh so excited to reconnect with friends and foodies back north.
Bear with me as I settle in and get back to regular posting. And a huge thanks to San Diego for all of the memories!
