friday five
- The start of Fall this past weekend meant the first gumbo of the season was made on Sunday. Our local butcher had some andouille sausage that was the perfect addition. Check out my tips for making the perfect cajun roux here.
- Non-food related but too good not to share. I had a wonderful Shellac manicure at Bliss SF before my last trip and the technician recommended these CND Shellac Remover Wraps. They are cheaper than a salon removal and make the more convenient home removal a breeze. It seriously took less than ten minutes and there was absolutely no damage to my natural nails.
- I’m still one-hundred-percent in love with my Breville One-Touch Tea Maker. I’m currently brewing pots of spiced teas to throw over pitchers of ice since San Francisco hasn’t read the Fall memo quite yet. These warm days won’t keep me from enjoying the flavors of Fall.
- Cupcake Rehab recently posted a recipe for Spiced Bourbon with Cardamom, Vanilla & Cinnamon. Seeing as how I recently fell in love with Old Fashioneds, I think a bottle of this may be in my near future.
- On Sunday I drove 15 miles to Walnut Creek for the sole purpose of trying Pinkberry’s new Butter Pecan frozen yogurt. It’s a good thing that Pinkberry isn’t exactly convenient to our home because this is probably one of my favorite flavors yet.
