Bringing together local foodies and wine for a good cause, over 15 chef teams competed for a local charity of their choice as judged by industry judges by creating small bite dishes paired with the recently released HALL 2011 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon.
Last Sunday I had the pleasure of spending the afternoon in beautiful St. Helena at HALL Wines for their fifth annual HALL Cabernet Cookoff benefiting local Napa Valley non-profit organizations. The weather was absolutely perfect, the dishes paired beautifully with the recently released 2011 HALL Cabernet Sauvignon and the passion for giving of those in attendance was apparent with every conversation. Vintners Craig and Kathryn Hall have curated an entertaining and inspiring event to push local chef’s to their culinary limits while raising awareness about the important work of local non-profits.
Congratulations to this year’s winning culinary teams: Daniel Capra of Paula Le Duc Catering benefiting St. Helena Hospital; Mark Dommen of One Market Restaurant benefiting Napa Valley Hospice & Adult Day Services; Christopher Ludwick of Earth’s Bounty Kitchen & Winebar benefiting Community Action NV Food Bank; and my personal favorite, Will Wright of Bounty Hunter Smokin BBQ benefiting Napa Humane.
If you missed out on the fun this year, SAVE THE DATE: April 25, 2015 for the 6th Annual HALL Cabernet Cookoff. Planning a trip to Napa Valley? HALL Wines should be at the top of your list of places to visit for their classic Bordeaux varietals as well as their stunning modern grounds.
